About the Small Business Development Centerblank

The Santa Ana Regional Lead Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is one of more than 60 lead centers stemming from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business Development program. Launched in 1980, the program has grown exponentially to more than 60 lead centers, including this one, with more than 1,000 field center locations in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam and American Samoa.

Since its inception, these centers have enhanced more than 11 million start-up and existing small businesses. Through the SBA’s national network of centers, the programs leverage local, state and federal monies to strengthen small businesses and ultimately contribute to the state’s economy.

Located on the campus of the California State University, Fullerton, the Santa Ana Regional Lead SBDC office functions as a conduit between our three field offices in Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. We administer the monies provided by the SBA and our funding partners, which underwrite the services offered by the field offices and refer aspiring entrepreneurs to the office that will best cater to his or her specific needs.

Because of the effectiveness of our programs and the quality of the resources we provide to our clients through our centers — from low-cost workshops and seminars to confidential one-on-one consultations — we have a proven, positive economic impact on the region. This superior performance allows us to receive continued financial support from the SBA and our funding partners.

The Orange County, TriTech and Inland Empire Small Business Development Centers support small business owners with professional expertise that encompasses a broad spectrum of services such as:

  • Feasibility studies
  • Business plan and financial statement reviews
  • Marketing
  • Production
  • Organization
  • Engineering
  • Technical challenges

Workshops, online courses and seminars are available for a nominal fee or at no charge as well as confidential consultation.

The Santa Ana Regional Lead SBDC network also has satellite and outreach offices conveniently located throughout Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange counties.

The centers facilitate the success of both new and existing small businesses by offering business management, counseling and training. By cultivating success, newly opened businesses, increased sales and profits, job creation and retention, we positively affect the economy. Nationally, these centers also provide assistance to small businesses applying for the Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) grants from federal agencies as well as SBA loans.

The Santa Ana Regional SBDC network’s goals reflect those of the Small Business Administration’s: We foster the development, growth and success of small businesses in Southern California.

Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of the our nation.

The SBA recognizes that small business is critical to our economic recovery and strength, to building America’s future, and to helping the United States compete in today’s global marketplace. Although the SBA has grown and evolved in the years since it was established in 1953, the bottom-line mission remains the same: The SBA helps Americans start, build and grow businesses. Through an extensive network of field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations, SBA delivers its services to people throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.
